The Champion of the lean Six Sigma project is normally a senior manager who has responsibility and authority over one or more key areas of the enterprise. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring the appropriate projects are selected for study and the various elements of the organization for which the lean Six Sigma project will focus are involved in the effort and that their needs are considered and included in the changes brought about by the analysis. The Champion must have an overall knowledge of the principles, concepts, and techniques of lean Six Sigma, as well as the ability to provide business-focused guidance to the project team to keep them on track.
