"A
hundred years ago there was a similar process-based innovation
in business that was so profound it became the basis
for the economy of the industrial age. That process was
the assembly line.
The
assembly line and industrial technology are so intertwined
in most people’s minds that they do not realize
industrial technology had been in widespread use for
50 or 60 years before the assembly line was introduced.
It was the process innovation called the assembly line
and not new technology that brought our current consumer
economy into existence.
|
|
The
next wave of innovation and productivity will again be
based on process and not new technology. A combination
of processes that are coming to be collectively known as
the “real-time enterprise” will become the
basis for our economy in the information age. The real-time
enterprise is an organization that employs a set of processes
enabled by existing information technology and an organizational
structure that allows it to acquire and act on up-to-date
information to continually improve existing operations
and devise new operations as opportunities arise."

Greatest Innovation Since the Assembly Line"

Knowing "What your organization
does" and "How it does it" are
the two most important individual pieces of
information senior leaders have. It is only when
you understand what it takes to create the product or service
that fully
meets the customer's needs can you ensure the organization's
success. There are so many organizations who believe that
spending large sums of money on technology is going to
give them the competitive edge they so desperately want. But,
as Michael Hugos said in the article above, "The next
wave of innovation and productivity will again be based
on process
and not new technology."
|
We
believe he's right on target! But, before you can
move to a more process-based environment, you must
first understand what those processes are and how
they work (and better yet, how they should work).
That's why Mountain Home created its Process Modeling & Mapping
Certification Program.
By
bringing together two of the most powerful tools
in process management, Process Modeling and Process
Mapping, we provide you a set of proven
tools and techniques you will need to identify, define, model, map,
and analyze your organization's
core business processes which produce the enterprise's
products and services for its external customers,
as well as the organization's support processes
responsible to the internal customers of the organization. |
The MHi
Process Modeling/Mapping Certification Program is
an assurance to the organization that their employee
has completed
the prescribed curriculum and possesses a level of
knowledge which will enable him/her to be an active
member of any BPM, BPR, Six
Sigma/Lean Innovation, Performance
Improvement, ERP,
or Competitive Outsourcing Process
Modeling/Mapping effort. A
graduate of this certification will understand just
what it takes to model and map an enterprise's processes,
defining the key elements of the process and its
supporting infrastructure creating a foundation for
all enterprise performance improvements.

The foundation
of the entire BPM&R curriculum, including the Process Modeling/Mapping
Certification Course, is the Innovative
Management FrameworkTM (IMF)
methodology. The IMF was created from the Framework for Managing
Process Improvement
methodology,
originally developed by
the U.S. Federal government and subsequently revised and updated by
Mountain Home. The IMF
methodology produces products that directly support the strategic and
operational rethinking of
core business processes, organizational structures, human capital,
and technologies through the organization's
reengineering and change management efforts ongoing across business
and government. Issues such as total
Business Transformation, Business Process Outsourcing,
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Strategic
Sourcing,
and Alliance Management all in a multi-cultural
environment have become the norm in business.
Managing this environment while cutting
operational costs takes a NEW approach, one that
is based on a holistic
view of the enterprise.
